Jubilee 2025

Jubilee 2025, Pilgrimage to the ItalyJoin Peter’s Way Tours on a pilgrimage to Rome and Vatican City during the 2025 Jubilee Year! A Jubilee is a Holy Year of grace and pilgrimage in the Catholic Church, which typically takes place every 25 years. The upcoming Jubilee Year in 2025 has been given the motto “Pilgrims of Hope” by His Holiness, Pope Francis. It will be the second Jubilee that Pope Francis presides over, as he proclaimed an Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy in 2015. The last “ordinary” Jubilee was in 2000 during the pontificate of Pope St. John Paul II.

“The forthcoming Jubilee can greatly contribute to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire,” Pope Francis said in announcing the year’s motto. After the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jubilee will give us the opportunity for a renewed sense of hope and faith.

During the Jubilee, the Catholic Church offers the faithful the possibility of asking for a plenary indulgence, the remission of sins for themselves or for deceased relatives. The most exciting and well-known rite of the Jubilee year is the opening of the Holy Door at the four major basilicas of Rome: St. Peter’s Basilica, the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, and the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
