New Years’ Parade, Vatican City

A Celebration of the Pope’s Worldwide Day of Peace!

Join the procession of traveling bands to St. Peter’s Square with pomp and pageantry in celebration of La Festa di San Silvestro. If you are unable to travel over New Years, Peter's Way can also make arrangements for band tours for May Day in Vatican City.

6-Day Itinerary

Day 1 | Depart USA
New Years’ Parade, Vatican City
Day 2 | Arrive in Rome
Day 3 | Tour of Ancient Rome | Performance at St. Peter's Basilica
Morning tour of Rome's ancient landmarks. Afternoon orientation meeting of all band directors with parade organizers. 2:00 p.m. gathering of all bands on Piazza del Sant' Uffizio. 3:00 p.m. Holy Mass at St. Peter's Basilica. All bands will take part in the celebration with music.
Day 4 | Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel | Performance
New Years’ Parade, Vatican CityThis morning, visit of one of the greatest art collections in the world, the Vatican Museums. Continue to the Sistine Chapel, the private chapel of the Popes, where Michelangelo best expressed his genius in monumental frescoes. End the tour in St. Peter's Basilica. 5:00 p.m. start of the parade. March from Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazia through Via Candia, Viale Giulio Cesare, Via Ottaviano, Piazza Risorgimento, Via Cola di Rienzo, Via Cicerone, Piazza Cavour, Castel Sant’Angelo, Via della Conciliazione, and Piazza San Pietro. The bands will line up in St. Peter's Square and perform Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" (European Hymn). Pasta party with all participating bands.
Day 5 | Performance at St. Peter's Square
Gathering of all bands on Piazza del Sant' Uffizio. Participate in noon Angelus Prayer with the Holy Father. All together, the bands will perform “Großer Gott wir loben Dich.”
Day 6 | Return from Rome
