photoYour pilgrimage begins in the small town of Fatima, at the world famous Marian Shrine and pilgrimage site. The appearance of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary, to three small shepherd children has established and spread devotion in the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Visit the Carmelite Convent of Coimbra where Sister Lucia lived and died. Continue on to the monumental town of Santiago, named after the Apostle Saint James. Santiago de Compostela is the final destination of the legendary medieval pilgrimage route Camino de Santiago. Your journey continues to León, capital of Christian Spain, and Burgos, the historic city of El Cid. As your journey concludes in Lourdes, reflect on the miraculous waters drawing pilgrims from all over the world! The living waters of God’s love heal us in heart, mind, body and soul. This pilgrimage to Marian Shrines will renew your spirit and refresh your soul as you return home filled with the presence of the living God.

10-Day Itinerary

Day 1 | Sunday | Depart for Portugal

Day 2 | Monday | Arrive Lisbon | Fatima

Upon arrival in Lisbon, board your motor coach and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city. Continue to Fatima. After dinner, you may participate in the Evening Eucharistic Procession.

Day 3 | Tuesday | Full day in Fatima

Celebrate Mass at the Little Chapel of Apparitions in Fatima. Tour the Shrine to Our Lady of Fatima. Visit the tombs of the children, Capelinha, the Chapel of Apparitions. Visit Aljustrel, the hamlet where Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia lived. See Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared to the children. Participate in the evening candlelight Eucharistic procession and rosary in honor of Our Lady.

Day 4 | Wednesday | Fatima | Coimbra | Santiago de Compostela

Drive through Brag and Porto to the Carmelite Monastery of Coimbra, where Sister Lucia lived. This afternoon, we arrive in the medieval city of Santiago de Compostela - one of the Western World’s most desirable spots of pilgrimage, still a special place in the hearts of many devoted pilgrims. Celebrate evening Mass at the Basilica of Santiago de Compostela.

Day 5 | Thursday | Santiago de Compostela

Start your tour of the Pilgrims Way! End with a visit to the Shrine of St. James; the Bell Tower; Church and Convent of San Francesco. Celebrate Mass at the Shrine. Visit Plaza de Espana, the Hospital of the Catholic Monarchs, Plaza de la Quintana. Also see the 12th century Church of Santa Maria de Sar in the Barrio de Sar and fine sculptured ornaments by Maestro Mateo.

Day 6 | Friday | El Camino de Santiago | León

Travel through the Pilgrim Segment of the Way of St. James into Galicia. Proceed to Leon, the capital of Christian Spain at the start of the Reconquest. Independent lunch enroute. In León, visit the Churches of Santa Ana, Santa Maria del Mercado, and the Convent of Conception. The highlight of this exploration is the remarkable pilgrim Cathedral. Celebrate Mass at the Cathedral in León.

Day 7 | Saturday | Fromista | Santo Domingo | Burgos

The journey continues to Fromista. See important relics of the Way at the Church of St. Martin. Then, we continue to Santo Domingo de Silos, famous for its beautiful Romanesque cloister and tradition of Gregorian chant. Celebrate Mass with the Benedictine monks at the Monastery. Independent lunch. Continue to Burgos to enjoy an afternoon tour of the historic city of El Cid.

Day 8 | Sunday | Burgos | Loyola | Lourdes

Bid goodbye to Burgos and travel to the baroque monastery of Ignatius de Loyola. Celebrate Mass at the Sanctuary. After Mass, travel through the Pyrenees mountains to Lourdes. Independent lunch enroute. Arrive in the pilgrim town of Lourdes, where the Blessed Virgin Mary confirmed her title to the world; “I am the Immaculate Conception.” The beauty of the Grotto will inspire you. Participate in the evening candlelight procession and the recitation of the rosary.

Day 9 | Monday | Full day in Lourdes

Celebrate early morning Mass in the Grotto. The beauty of Lourdes recalls the memory of the apparitions of the Blessed Mother to St. Bernadette. A full day includes sacred sites and places related to the apparitions and life of St. Bernadette. Participate in the evening candlelight procession and the recitation of the rosary.

Day 10 | Tuesday | Return to the USA
