London | Kent | Yorkshire | Edinburgh | Lancashire | Stratford | Oxford

photoDiscover the richness of Catholic tradition and the contribution of the Catholic Church to England and Scotland. Explore London and visit the Houses of Parliament and Tower of London, with its amazing crown jewels exhibit. Also tour Westminster Cathedral and Hall and the great St. Paul’s Cathedral, and see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. You will also see major sights, such as Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Big Ben, Piccadilly Square, the West End theater section and Trafalgar Square. Then, journey north and enjoy breathtakingly beautiful scenery as you make you way to Edinburgh, the Athens of the North! You will also visit York, Lindisfarne, the Kingdom of Fife and Lancashire before traveling back to London through “Shakespeare Country!”

11-Day Itinerary

Day 1 | Monday | Depart for Great Britain

Day 2 | Tuesday | Arrive in London

Your journey begins with an orientation tour of London city. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 3 | Wednesday | Highlights of London

Enjoy a full day touring the highlights of London, including Westminster Catholic Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul’s Cathedral. You will also see Buckingham Palace, the Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. By coach, you will view Covent Gardens, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly and Oxford Street. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 4 | Thursday | Kent – Garden of England

Enjoy a full day touring through Surrey and Kent. You will visit Hampton Court Palace, Canterbury Cathedral and Rochester Cathedral. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 5 | Friday | North to Yorkshire

Depart London and head north to Yorkshire. Visit Cambridge, stroll through the town and see its famous university. Next, you will stop at Walsingham, a place of pilgrimage dating back to 1061 that is often referred to as “England’s Nazareth.” Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 6 | Saturday | Journey to Scotland

Visit York Minster Cathedral and walk along medieval streets, like The Shambles. Leave York and drive north to Lindisfarne—a small island off the coast of Northumbria—where you will learn about the work of Ss. Aiden and Cuthbert. Follow the coast across the Scottish border to Edinburgh. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 7 | Sunday | Edinburgh – Athens of the North

Enjoy a full day of touring the capital city of Edinburgh. Following an orientation by coach, you will visit Edinburgh Castle, St. Margaret’s Chapel, St. Giles’ Cathedral, Palace of the Holyrood and the Abbey. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 8 | Monday | The Kingdom of Fife – Gala Dinner

Cross the River Forth, view Loch Leven—where Mary, “Queen of Scots” was imprisoned in 1568—visit St. Andrews and stop by North Queensferry to see an original ‘Beehive’ Carmelite church. This evening, enjoy a special Scottish gala dinner. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 9 | Tuesday | Journey south to Lancashire

Depart Edinburgh and head south for a scenic journey through Hawick and Jedburgh en route to England. Visit Liverpool Cathedral; overnight in Liverpool. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 10 | Wednesday | Journey south to London

Leave Liverpool and enjoy a picturesque drive through the English Shires. Stop at Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford-Littlemore, Stonor House, Eton-Windsor and Runnymede en route to London. Celebrate Mass (time and location to be determined).

Day 11 | Thursday | Return to USA
